FLH Company is a recognized leader in innovative financing, imaginative acquisitions and creative planning. Its goal is to be the builder for a better tomorrow in communities across the nation.
Founded in 1967 by Frank Haney, the company has a combined development portfolio of more than $10 billion and 15 million square feet of space. Since 1994, the company’s operations have been managed from their office in Washington, D.C.
The Washington metropolitan area represents the FLH Company’s leading marketplace with more than 1 million square feet of office space in the Portals Office Complex, which currently houses the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and a multi-billion dollar investment in the Dulles Greenway Toll Road in suburban Virginia. The company pays more than $1 million in annual property taxes to the District for its business holdings.
The FLH Company’s early investments focused on development projects involving apartments, hotels, parking garages and office buildings. The company’s initial projects were located in Tennessee, and included the Internal Revenue Service building in Memphis. The company grew rapidly in the south, where major projects included the Social Security Payment Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and the 35-story Marietta Tower in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
In the 1980s, FLH diversified into food and beverage investments, including the purchase of a Coca-Cola bottling company and a Miller beer distributorship, but the company’s core focus remained the continued development of properties, including a series of convention center luxury hotels. The company developed and constructed more than 2,500 luxury hotel rooms.
Today, with more than 30 years of experience and a combined development portfolio of more than $10 billion, FLH Company has holdings in several states and the District of Columbia.
